Brighton 2017

“After a tiresome day of exploring Brighton we headed back to the language school to be picked up by our foster/ guest-families. While we were waiting, we spent our time playing online games and listening to music. The pick-up was due at 5 pm and at around 5:15 pm our names were called out. Our family had arrived. We shook hands and greeted each other and then went on to place our luggage in the back of the car. The ride “home” was rather silent and seemed almost awkward. Along with that I had a tough time not falling asleep in the car. The car pulled over to a small house near the cliff and the parents asked us to carry our luggage inside. The man of the house wasted no time in telling us about our curfew, house rules and dinner. The rules and regulations were fine with the three of us. The time we spent in Brighton will be a memory to cherish not because it was perfect which made it fun but because it was fun which made it perfect.”

“On the 27th of March we had to get up early because we were going to London. The train ride took about an hour. The first destination we went to was the „Buckingham Palace“. Afterwards we went through one of the biggest parks in London, Saint James’s Park. We saw street artists and took a lot of pictures.

After a while we had a lunch break. In a group of five we found an amazing pizza restaurant called MOD. We were greeted very friendly because we were one of the first guests. When we met up with the whole group again we started our way to BIG BEN – something we all wanted to see.

Then we went to Oxford Street by underground which is very different to the one in Austria. We were allowed to go shopping there. Afterwards we were separated in two groups because some of the students wanted to go to the „Baker Street“ and the others just wanted to see the Tower Bridge. Altogether it was an amazing day.”

“On Saturday we went hiking to Seven Sisters (between the towns Seaford and Eastbourne) which is a series of chalk cliffs by the English Channel, popular for tourists and locals with a desire to hike. The landscape was beautiful. First we saw a lot of sheep and some lakes. Then we arrived at the ocean, where we took a lot of photos. The climbing began after that. We went up the cliff peaks and down to the dips. It was exhausting but it was worth it because the view was amazing every second. The destination was a lighthouse on the top of a hill, where we took a break and waited for the bus.”

“On Tuesday, we had school, just like every day, from 9 o’clock until half past twelve. After school we had lunch and after that we met at half past one at the fountain near our school. So after we met up we went bowling together. We had a lot of fun there because we did not just do bowling but other very cool games, too. For example, there were machines in which you can throw 10 pence or 50 and win something for it. So everyone had a lot of fun at that afternoon and we all enjoyed it.”
